Kodiak Ultra Marathons teams up with Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc for the ultimate trail running experience in Big Bear Lake, California.

Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB offers runners the hospitality of a rustic, mountain town that sits just a couple hours from Los Angeles, California. With 3 days of racing and 5 distances, each course presents a unique running experience. Runners will enjoy views of Big Bear Lake throughout their journey – whether you’re climbing to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain or descending into Siberia Canyon, the courses will ‘wow’ you at every turn.

The Races

Run through three different climates – high desert, sub alpine, and semi-arid – as you make your way through each course in the Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB.

  • 100M –Begins in the lively Village and circumnavigates the Big Bear Valley. Visit the rarely crossed Siberia Canyon, and cruise along the north shore of Big Bear Lake, including over 20 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. The real test comes when you cross over Deadman’s Ridge and summit Sugarloaf Mountain at nearly 10,000 ft. Finally, cruise down Knickerbocker Road to the finish line back in The Village
  • 100K –A taste of the Kodiak without the extremes of the 100-mile. Starts near Baldwin Lake and follows over 50% of the 100-mile course, ending in The Village.
  • 50K –Starts and finishes at The Village. Enjoy this flowy single track of Skyline ridge at 8,000 ft.
  • 21K –Beginning in The Village, enjoy ascending the Skyline ridge with views of San Gorgonio peak.
  • 10K –A great bang for your buck. Enjoy the beautiful trails with views of Big Bear Lake in the background throughout your run.

The Festival

Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB is a three-day festival weekend with activities for you and your entire support crew. With the start/finish line inThe Villageat the heart of Big Bear Lake, athletes and spectators alike will have access to restaurants, shops, and entertainment right next to the venue.

The festival includes food and drinks from local vendors, a DJ playing your favorite tunes, and a parade through town before you set out for your race.

Withdrawal Options: This registration is non-refundable and non-transferable. All deferral requests will be honored until September 11, 2024, regardless of the reason for deferral. The deferral may only be used once. To submit a deferral request, please contact kodiak@service.byutmb.world.

Registration Notes

  • Runners who register within 50 days prior to Race Day will not have race materials personalized (name on merchandise apparel and name on race bib).
  • Runners must be at least 18 years old to participate in the 100M, 100k and 50k, 16 years old to participate in the 21k, and 12 years old to participate in the 10k.
  • The registration prices listed do not include the Active.com processing fee.
  • There is NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION.
  • Online Registration Closes: Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 11:59 pm ET or until the races are sold out.
  • We will take onsite registrations at the Expo for any open distances.
  • Distance changes are subject to availability. Please reach out to the event inbox to inquire.
  • Distance change requests can be made via email up to 45 days prior to the event. After the 45-day deadline, all distance changes must be completed at the event expo when picking up your bib. There are no distance changes on race day.
  • Reference the REGISTRATION FEE section on this page for the withdrawal policy.

THE ROAD TO UTMB

Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB is the start towards your quest to the UTMB World Series Finals in Chamonix, the mythic UTMB Mont Blanc, the holy grail of trail running in the heart of the Alps, set on the three key distances: OCC (50K), CCC® (100K) and UTMB® (100M), the pinnacle trail running event.

As a UTMB World Series Event, the Top 3 female and Top 3 male runners of the 100M, 100K, and 50K at Kodiak gain automatic qualification to the UTMB, CCC and OCC races, respectively.

All finishers of the Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB collect Running Stones that can be applied to the UTMB Mont-Blanc draw. To be eligible for the lottery, runners need to have a least one Running Stone and a valid UTMB Index.

Big Bear Kodiak 100 UTMB Marathon | Big Bear Vacations (6)Kodiak Ultra Marathons by UTMB is a dual qualifier for the iconic UTMB®️ World Series Finals and the Western States Endurance Run. Earn your running stones and get your UTMB Index when you complete the 100M, 100K, 50K or 21K race. And finish the 2023 100M race in less than 36 hours and the 100K race in less than 18 hours will have your 2024 Western States Qualifier.
